Alejandro Urzagaste is a multi instrumentalist with a primary focus guitar. Alejandro teaches guitar, bass, drums and piano. Alejandro Urzagaste studied guitar at Northern Illinois University with Fareed Haque. Primarily a jazz guitarist he also plays classical, rock and flamenco although he appreciates music regardless of genre. He has performed and toured the United States with Deana Martin, 12rods and Harvey Danger. Having resided in Chicago since 2000 he has played at all the major venues including the Jazz Festival, the Green Mill, the Jazz Showcase and Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium park. In 2012 he released his debut recording "Urban Intervals" which features the legendary Chicago trio led by Jodie Christian. Alejandro has taught in conjunction with the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, Gallery 37, Fresco Academy of the Arts, Ravinia Jazz Mentors and currently teaches in the Ravinia Reach,Teach, Play program. His basic philosophy on teaching is through positive reinforcement and firm understanding of the basics. "There are only twelve notes."
